Skulpturverein invites you to an artistic journey through public space. During a shared walk, the audience encounters existing sculptures that often go unnoticed in urban spaces – silent testimonies to past creative will, political narratives, or artistic positions. At each station, one of the participating artists responds to an existing sculpture with temporary works, interventions, or performances. Their contributions function as commentaries, contemporary reflections, or counterpoints to the works of art created by men in the past. They open up new perspectives on what already exists and raise questions about the representation, history, and visibility of art in public space. Moving through the city – as a collective stroll – becomes part of the experience. The journey connects the stations into a sensual and intellectual process: Art in space, art in dialogue, art in motion. ECHO ECHO is an invitation to see, think, and move forward – together, outdoors, in the heart of the city.
Skulpturverein
Skulpturverein is a curatorial initiative by Berlin-based sculptors – Yasmin Alt, Ulrika Segerberg, Hildegard Skowasch, and Gloria Zein – that focuses on the diversity and significance of contemporary sculpture. The project aims to create low-threshold access to art and promote dialogue between artists and viewers. Since 2022, Skulpturverein has been organizing exhibitions and interventions in public spaces to explore new forms of presentation and documentation. The works leave the traditional white cube and enter everyday life, where they interact with a broad audience – including those outside the art world. These actions are intended to stimulate discourse and provoke irritation. In addition to traditional exhibitions, such as those held at Kunstraum m3 and Spoiler Aktionsraum, projects have included a sculpture flash mob in the Königskolonnaden in Kleistpark and, most recently, the "Kunst fährt Ringbahn" (Art Rides the Ringbahn) event. With such projects, the Skulpturverein reactivates neglected spaces and reclaims open spaces in urban areas.
